HEATHER and BILLY-Wedding Reception at Smith Brothers

Heather and Billy got married in Hawaii, but had an at-home reception in Columbus, Ohio. They chose one of the most unique venues in Columbus for their event--The Venue at Smith Brothers. If you're not familiar with it, it is a part of the old Smith Brothers Hardware complex which was in ruins not that long ago. It is a prime example of what can be done with some vision. It has been restored to be a fabulous mix of office space, and The Venue, which is used to host weddings, receptions and all sorts of other events. It's a great mix of historical urban space, with all the modern amenities--and is just fabulous.

Heather and Billy's reception incorporated great use of the space with lots of accents imported from Hawaii. They had flowers flown in from Hawaii that were just like the ones from their ceremony on the island. They had probably the coolest centerpieces that I've seen--shadowboxes with sand, shells and photos from the actual wedding. It was beautifully decorated with lots of candles, framed photos from the wedding in Hawaii, a slideshow from the trip to Hawaii, and the Columbus skyline in the background off the patio is always a great feature!

It was definitely a party. After dinner, the dance floor was full the entire evening. When the guests needed a break, they ventured out on the patio for some fresh air on a perfect spring evening and got to see the Columbus skyline after dark, with the buildings all lit up in pink for the Komen Race for the Cure which was the next morning. It was a perfect finale and let everyone get a little taste of what the ceremony in Hawaii was like.
