WELLINGTON FAMILY

I met up with the Wellington family at the Decorative Arts Center to do some updated holiday family photos. I've known them for quite a few years now. We've shot three of the Wellington family weddings--along with some other assorted sessions along the way--and weddings for some friends of the family. It's great to have an ongoing relationship with a family like this. I get to see all of the changes and new additions--it's probably one of the parts of my job that I love the most! I mean, how cute are these kids? It was great to see everyone again and spend a little bit of time with them during this holiday time!

HILLARY and BILLY

I met up with Hillary and Billy at Franklin Park Conservatory to do their engagement session. It was my first time meeting Billy. They both just arrived back in Columbus for Christmas a few days earlier--Hillary had just returned from a trip to Africa and Billy is in the Marines and Stationed in Washington. They both had weather related delays--so they were thrilled to make it home to share their Christmas with their families and each other. I was thrilled that they were able to take a few hours out of their holiday time so we could squeeze in their engagement session.

We decided to start at the conservatory--since the weather has been so unpredictable. It was a good call. It started pouring as we were getting ready to leave. The rain didn't stop them from making it to our second stop in downtown Columbus. The Ohio Theatre holds special meaning to them from time spent there together. Unfortunately, the timing was not going to let us into the theater for photos--but we got to do some cute ones under the marquee and out front. It started raining buckets while we were safe under the cover of the marquee--but I had to get a few out in the rain as we were leaving.

Billy leaves at the end of the month to head back to Washington. I loved getting to spend a little time with them and look forward to the wedding in June!

KATHY and CHRIS-Hocking Hills Wedding Photography

I left Abby's birthday party and headed to Pine Grove United Methodist Church in the Hocking Hills for the wedding of Kathy and Chris. This was truly an intimate ceremony with the minister and myself--and of course Kathy and Chris. It was a very romantic, yet simple ceremony. I was very impressed that they sought out a "real" church even though they knew that they wanted to get married in the Hocking Hills and they're not from the area. Most of the couples whose weddings I have photographed in the Hocking Hills opt for one of the people who own one of the businesses in the area and have gotten ordained just to perform weddings at their venue.

The church is as cute as can be--the classic little country church. We spent a few minutes with the minister after the ceremony learning a little history of the church. He was also explaining how he got permission to extend the performing of weddings of tourists to the area as one of his church ministries--from the United Methodist Bishop. I think it's a great idea. When we sometimes hear stories about couples feeling so alienated from churches by their rules--it was very refreshing to hear his attitude.

After the ceremony, we headed over to Old Man's Cave for a few romantic photos before sunset. They were headed off to a romantic dinner at the Cedar Inn--and I rushed back to town to catch the second half of my boys' basketball game.

ABBY 1st Birthday Party-Nelsonville, Oh photography

I had the pleasure of visiting one of my favorite client families for Abby's first birthday party. I think she is one of the cutest little baby girls that I have ever seen! I had a great time with everyone. As you can see, Abby wasn't too excited about her cake--in fact she wanted nothing to do with it. She loved the balloons and the Christmas tree that mom put up, though. She couldn't get enough looking at the lights!
